THE PARTY WAS TODAY!

THE PARTY WAS TODAY! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!

I ate and drank so many things! IT WAS ALL DELICIOUS! This is what I ate and drank: nectar punch, acorn milk, moss soup, Smallified peaches (I just licked mine and gave the rest to Rudy).

I licked the honey off of my petal cake. I saved the petals. I will put them with my snakeskin.

I played so many games! I played got-your-wing and pin-the-spots-on-the-ladybug (the ladybug kept moving!) and loop-de-loop and lick-the-mushroom and who-has-the-feather!

Everyone hit the snail-shell ball with a stick! It did not break. But then Peppertwirl hit it. The wax came off! The Surprises fell out! Everyone cheered! Everyone shared the Surprises. The Queen gave Peppertwirl a flower because she was the one that made it open.

I danced and jumped and flew! I rode dragonflies (they came!) and floated in the punch bowl!

Flutterglow saw me in the punch bowl. She said *You should not be in there Bud but it is a Party so I won’t tell anyone*. Then she giggled and I giggled. Then she said *Move over so I can get a cup of punch, you are in the way*. The nectar punch was delicious.

My clothing did not stick to me after I got out! My bottom was not uncovered!

The Prince got a lot of Gifts! He smiled at my Jingle Bell! He said *Thank You for this Jingle Bell Bud Mushroom!* That made me happy!

Now I can tell you what the Queen got him. It is not a Surprise anymore. It is - A WISH! He can make any Wish he wants! Only a Prince would get a Wish! Do you know how I hid a Wish? I hid it under a leaf. Then no one could see it! The Queen said *That was Very Clever Bud Mushroom. You are a Useful Fairy!*

I will tell you more about the Party tomorrow. I am tired now. But it was so much fun!

THE PARTY IS TOMORROW!

The Party is TOMORROW! The Party is TOMORROW! I am so excited!

Today everyone in Twinkle Dingle took a bath. Even the gnomes! EVEN RUDY! He took off his watering can hat. Then he climbed into the pond.

I like floating in the water. It is fun splashing with my friends. Everyone takes off their clothing to get in the water. No one keeps their bottom covered! We swam and splashed and dove under water!

When Rudy was done with his bath, he rolled in the dirt. I laughed! Thistle said *Rudy. No. Not the dirt*. But Rudy did it anyway. Thistle and Nettle made Rudy get into the water again.

Then I was clean. I went to Peppertwirl. She gave me my Party clothing! She said *Do not get it dirty before tomorrow Bud Mushroom*. I do not want to get it dirty. I hid it in my house so it will not get dirty. I put it under a pile of moss. It will be safe there.

Then I went to Willowdrop. She brushed my hair. She said *Bud Mushroom nothing I can do will make your hair behave. Even my magic will not make it lay flat. It is Unique just like You. Do not tell the Queen but I like it better this way*.

I grinned when she said that. Willowdrop was the best Mummy! If I had flat hair then I would not look like me. It is better if my hair stays how it is. Then everyone will know who I am. I do not want to confuse my friends. And I like my hair!

I will go to sleep early tonight. I want to get up early for the party!

I hope I can sleep! I am so excited!

Decorations!

Today I helped decorate for the party!

Pebblemist made a dancing ring. She set up a place for musicians. I did not help her.

Thistle and Nettle and Henbit and Nutsedge put weeds everyplace. I did not help them.

Wildwhisper polished the Thorn. I did not help him.

Flickerfoot and the Kitchen Fairies put out tables and dishes for the food. I did not help them either.

Flutterglow and Cloverflower giggled a lot. I did not giggle. I was too busy!

This is what I did:

I strung spidersilk on trees and flowers. I blew dandelion puffs at it. The silk was sticky. The puffs stuck to it! It is pretty.

I found pretty feathers. I tied them to tree branches. They fly around in the wind! But they will not fly away. I tied them carefully.

I tied the round ball thing to a tree branch. It swings under the branch. It will be hard to hit because it swings!

The Queen saw it. She said *Bud Mushroom that is a Very Good Round Ball. We believe it will be Very Entertaining to hit it with a Stick and see the Surprises fall out*. I was so happy that it was right!

I am very tired now. I worked hard.

The party is in two more days!

Dragonflies

Today Prince Silvertoes said *Bud Mushroom I need you. Be Useful and come here*.

He is not the Queen. But he still says things and I still do them.

I went to where he wanted me. Then he said *Bud Mushroom I want dragonfly rides at my Party. Be sure there will be dragonflies*.

I frowned when he said that. My wings drooped. I did not want to find dragonflies. I am not scared of them. But I do not like chasing them. They do not want to stop. They are FAST!

Then the Prince said *Bud Mushroom stop frowning and drooping. Be Useful, and go find some dragonflies*.

He is the Prince so I did what he said.

I chased dragonflies ALL DAY! Finally I caught up to some. They were resting on a flower. That is how I could catch up to them.

I told them to come to the Party. I told them the Prince wants to ride them. They said they would come. But they giggled when they said it. Dragonflies sound strange when they giggle. It makes my teeth hurt.

I do not know if they will really come to the Party. I hope they do! I do not want the Prince to be disappointed at his own Party!

The Party is only three days away!! My wings are so tired!

Something Special

Today I made something special for the party. Other fairies helped. This is who helped: Pollenfoot, Windybell, Cheerychime. They are the Queen’s Attendants. They feed her food. They rub her feet. They spritz her face. They are very tiny fairies. But they are helpful.

I do not know what we made. No one knows what it is called! Flutterglow saw one at a human party once. She said it is a round ball that you hang from a tree. Then you hit it with a stick. And then sweets and surprises fall out.

Flutterglow told the Queen about it. The Queen said *We must have one at Our Party! Bud Mushroom be a Useful Fairy and make Us a round ball to hang from a tree and hit with a stick. Be sure to put Sweets and Surprises inside. My Attendants will help you*.

I do not know if I am doing it right! But this is what we did: we found an empty snail shell. The snail dried up and does not need the shell now. We put Smallified berries in it. I broke the rest of my choklit into tiny pieces and put that inside too. Pollenfoot found some flower seeds to put inside. Then it was full.

I found some beeswax in my house. We covered the open part of the shell. Now the surprises will not fall out.

We tied spider silk to the outside. Windybell found a stick to hit it with at the Party. Cheerychime wanted to use the Thorn instead of a stick. But I did not think Wildwhisper would let us.

I do not know why the Queen wanted a round ball with Sweets and Surprises inside. I would rather put the snail shell in my house. But she is the Queen and she told me to do it. So I did it.

I hope it is right! It would not be Useful to make the wrong thing!

Nettle

The fox did a bad thing. The Garden Gnomes grew weeds. The fox trampled them! Now the Gnomes have to grow new ones. They need to hurry. The Party is soon!

I took them some food. This is what I gave them: berries, two walnuts, and dandelion milk. Rudy did not help me. He is helping the Gnomes! I had to fly back and forth many many times! My wings are tired. My arms are tired.

Thistle was talking to the Queen about the weeds. So I gave the food to Nettle. He looks just like Thistle. Except his beard is shorter. So that is how I knew it was Nettle. And also he told me he was Nettle.

Rudy was busy digging. I did not see him today. I wanted to lick his pear. But I could not find him.

When I was done taking food to the gnomes, I saw Cloverflower. She said *Bud Mushroom I need you for something special. Wake up early tomorrow and meet me by my house. I will give you a surprise if you help me*.

I will help Cloverflower. I like her. She smells nice. And I like surprises.

Clothing

I saw Peppertwirl today. I did not want to. But the Queen told me to.

Peppertwirl said *Bud Mushroom you have to cover your bottom at the party. It is a Special Event*.

I do not like clothing. I like to float in water. I do not like wet clothing. It sticks to me.

Peppertwirl said *Bud Mushroom I will make something special just for you*.

I like what she made me. I looked in her Mirror. My clothing ties around my belly. It is like a skirt. It covers my bottom. It is made from dried beetle wings tied together. It is shiny and black.

Peppertwirl will keep it until the Party. I will wear it for the party. Then I will take it off.

I was Useful today!

I feel better today!

Today the Queen called for me! I will tell you about it.

She clapped her hands and said *Bud Mushroom Attend Us*. That is how I know she wanted me. I do not know why she claps her hands when she wants me. But she does.

Then she said *Bud Mushroom you need clothing for Our Party. Go see Peppertwirl and get some Proper Clothing*.

I do not like clothing. It gets tangled in my wings. It makes me too hot. But I will visit Peppertwirl. The Queen told me to. I will visit her tomorrow.

Then the Queen said *Bud Mushroom be a Useful Fairy and Hide Our Gift for the Prince. Do not tell anyone what Our Gift is*.

I took it with me. I hid it. It is under a leaf in my house. But I can’t tell you which leaf. It is a secret.

I cannot tell you what the gift is. It is a surprise.

The hiding place is a good hiding place. The gift is a nice gift for a Prince.

I do not want to visit Peppertwirl tomorrow.

Rain!

Today it rained! I like rain! Most fairies do not like rain. It is hard to fly. But I like it.

We could not do work for the party! We will work when the rain stops.

This is what I did in the rain: splashed in a puddle, rode a snail, slid on a leaf down a muddy hill, drank raindrops, splashed in another puddle, rolled in the mud, bounced on a mushroom, played hide-and-seek with a frog (the frog won), listened to thunder.

I was not Useful. But I had fun!

Then I came home. I dried off. I drank some hot acorn milk.

It was a good day! We will work tomorrow. Then I will be Useful.

Party Food

There will be food at the Party!

I helped carry things to the place where it will be made into food. That place is called Kitchen.

Flickerfoot is in charge of Kitchen. Kitchen has a long long long table. A lot of Kitchen Fairies can stand by the table or fly over it or sit on the top. Then they can help to make food.

Flickerfoot is Important. He has a hat! He even has shoes! He is in charge of the Queen’s Food and the Prince's Food and Food for Parties.

This is what the Kitchen Fairies are making: nectar punch, acorn milk, dandelion bread, moss soup, Smallified peaches, grasshopper milk cheese, and rose petal cakes with honey on top.

I brought acorns and moss and dandelions. I am glad I did not have to milk the grasshoppers. They like to kick.

Flickerfoot said *Bud Mushroom put everything on the table* so I did.

Then he said *Bud Mushroom get out of the punchbowl* so I did. But I did not want to. Punch is delicious.

I am excited for the party!

Pebblemist

I helped Pebblemist today. She was Cloverflower’s Mummy. She looks just like Cloverflower except her hair is long and tied with strings. Cloverflower’s hair is not as long. Pebblemist has an orange dress, it is not pink like Cloverflower’s.

Pebblemist said *Bud Mushroom find some dandelion stems and some acorns. Then bring them to me*.

I found them. I brought them to her. It took a long time. I can only carry one acorn at a time. And I had to pick a lot of dandelions.

Pebblemist will use them to play music for the party. She will use her magic to make instruments. The acorns will be drums! The stems will be flutes! We can dance at the party!

Pebblemist said *Bud Mushroom when the party is finished you can have an acorn drum*. I am excited to get a drum!

Pebblemist gave me something today. It is a gift for the Prince! It is round and shiny. It makes a sound. It is as big as an acorn. Pebblemist called it Jingle Bell.

I will give Jingle Bell to the Prince. Then I can keep my seashell.

My Second Surprise

The bumblebees liked their flowers. They did not sting me.

Pebblemist was not ready for me to help today. She said *come back later Bud Mushroom*. I will go back later.

Cloverflower gave me my surprise! Flutterglow found it in a human place. Cloverflower called it choklit. It looks like a rock! It fits in my hands. Cloverflower said *taste it Bud* and I licked it. Choklit is good! I will share it with the ants in my log.

When Cloverflower was here she said *Bud you need clothing for the party. Go to Peppertwirl so she can make clothing for you*.

I do not like clothing. I like to wear nothing. But I will wear clothing for the party.

Cloverflower

Today Cloverflower gave me my surprise. It is the skin from a snake! She found it in the woods.

 There is no snake inside. The snake got too big and took off its own skin. I like this surprise! I put it in my house.

I will tell you about Cloverflower. She is the Messenger. She flies very very fast. She delivers messages from the Queen. Sometimes her messages are words she says with her mouth. Sometimes the messages are letters scratched into a leaf. The Queen likes to tell people things. Cloverflower delivers a lot of messages.

We were Sprouts at the same time. We played games. But then I Growed-Up and got my Job. We still play games sometimes. She has pretty hair. I like her.

She said *help me again and you will get another surprise*. So I will help her again. She wants me to invite more creatures. This is who I will invite: bumblebees and dryads. Cloverflower said *maybe more later but start with those*.

She knows I do not have a gift for the Prince. She said *I do not have one either. I will think about it*. She is clever. She will have an idea soon.

Mermaids

Cloverflower is the Queen’s Messenger. She is my friend. Today she said *please help me and I will give you a surprise*. I like surprises!

Cloverflower has to invite everyone to the party. Everyone is a lot! I will help her. I like to be Useful.

I flew to the seashore. I flew over the water to the mermaid rocks. They stick out of the water. Mermaids sit on them! I gave invitations to three mermaids. These are the three mermaids: Dorianna, Irvetta, and Marilla. They will tell the other mermaids about the party.

Bubblebelle told me that mer means sea and maid means girl. Mermaids are sea girls! That sounds like seagulls. It made me laugh when she told me.

Mermaids can do something amazing. They can take off their scales! Their tails turn into legs! Then they can walk on land. It is special magic. Only mermaids can do it.

But they cannot fly. I like to fly. I am happy to be a fairy.

I found something at the seashore. It is a seashell. Maybe the Prince will want a seashell. But I do not know if a seashell is a good gift for a Prince.

I wonder what my surprise is.

Thistle

Today I visited Thistle. I delivered food to him. He was happy to see me.

This is what I delivered: a pear, acorn milk, and dandelion salad. Rudy helped me carry everything. I tied it to his back. Thistle will share the food with his friends.

Thistle is a Garden Gnome. He grows weeds. The Queen wants a lot of weeds for the party. The Queen likes weeds. I do not know why.

Gnomes do not fly. They do not have wings. They move very slowly. Sometimes I think they are asleep when they are not asleep. Sometimes they look like rocks! 

Thistle wears bright colors. He wears all of these colors at the same time: red, purple, yellow, green, orange, blue. I know he is a Garden Gnome and not a rock. Rocks do not wear all of those colors.

Thistle said thank you for the food and come back later. So I will.

I still do not have a gift for the Prince.

A Gift

Flutterglow is a fairy. She is my friend. She has a pretty green dress. I like it when she giggles.

She told me something today. She said I need to bring a gift to Prince Silvertoes. I do not know what to give a Prince! He already has these things: a Mummy (she is the Queen), a house (he lives in it), a Crown (he wears it), and a Job (he is the Prince). He even has shoes! I do not know what else he needs!

Flutterglow told me what she will give him. Flutterglow has an Important Job. She is the Courier. Sometimes she goes places other fairies can’t go. She went to a human place. She found something she called Coin. I did not know what Coin was. But Flutterglow showed me.

Coin is flat and shiny. Coin has a face on it! Coin is big! I could curl up and sleep on it! Flutterglow did not Smallify it.

I helped Flutterglow wrap it in a pretty leaf. We tied it with spider silk. It will be a nice gift.

I will have to find a special gift. He is a Prince.

Rudy

Everyone is busy doing things for the party. Fairies are in the forest! They are near the place I found the flat magic rock. I didn’t want anyone to find it! I had to hide it! I will tell you how I hid it.

I have a friend. We have been friends since I was a Sprout! His name is Rudy. He is a skunk. He has a Special Hat. It is a watering-can. He helps the Garden Gnomes grow weeds.

One day I was in the woods. I smelled something. I followed the smell, and I found Rudy! He took me back to Bubblebelle. I did not know I was lost! But Bubblebelle knew I was lost. She pinched her nose and said thank you.

Some fairies think Rudy smells bad. His smell does not bother me. I like to play with him. He will hide, and I will look for him. I can always find him.

Rudy helped me move my flat rock. He is much bigger than I am. Much much bigger. I would fit inside his mouth! He picked up my rock in his teeth. He took it to my home.

I live in an old tree trunk. It is laying down on the ground. It has slugs and ants and beetles in it. The outside has moss and mushrooms on it.

 I love my home. And now my pretty magic rock is safe.

Prince Silvertoes

I will tell you about the party we are planning.

The party is for Prince Silvertoes. He is a Growed-Up fairy now. He will have a special party to celebrate that he is Growed-Up.

Regular fairies have small parties. Prince Silvertoes gets a big party because he is a Prince. His mummy is the Queen. I will tell you how she is his mummy. But first I have to tell you about fairy Seedlings.

The Queen chooses the mummy or a poppy that will have the Seedling. Only Growed-Up fairies can be mummies or poppies. The Queen gives the mummy or the poppy a special magical seed. I saw one once. It looked like a sparkly rock. 

The mummy or poppy has a party. All of their friends come! They plant the seed under a flower. Everyone dances all night around the flower. They say good things to the flower. Then the seed knows what the Seedling should be like.

The next day the flower opens. The Seedling fairy is inside! The mummy or the poppy is happy to have a Seedling!

One day, the Queen wanted her own Seedling. Every fairy in Twinkle Dingle came to her party! Even gnomes and sprites and brownies! Every growed-up fairy said a good thing to the flower. When the flower opened, Prince Silvertoes was inside.

His toes are not silver. They are toe-colored. But it is a good name for a Prince.
