Clean up

Today we cleaned up the clearing. Parties are fun but they make a mess!

Flutterglow told Cloverflower that I floated in the punch. They laughed and laughed. Then Cloverflower told Pebblemist. Pebblemist told Willowdrop. Willowdrop told Flickerfoot. Flickerfoot frowned and said *Bud Mushroom you should not have done that. Now I know why my nectar punch tasted like mushrooms. You must be useful and wash the punchbowl*.

I took the punchbowl to the pond. I washed it. It was fun to float in the water. And now I am not sticky. But I wore my clothing today. It fell off in the water. It is gone now. I am glad. I don’t like clothing anyway.

I picked up the feathers that were in the trees. I brought them home. I found the empty snail-shell. It was not broken! I brought it home too. There was one tiny piece of choklit still inside! I ate it.

Then we were done cleaning. But a strange thing happened. I will tell you about it.

Flickerfoot is Very Important. He is so Important that he has shoes! But his shoes vanished at the Party! He took them off when he rode a dragonfly. Dragonflies fly FAST! Sometimes when a fairy rides one, their clothes fly right off! So he took off his shoes and his hat before his ride. He did not want to lose them! He found the hat. He cannot find the shoes ANYWHERE! No one can find them! We looked and looked today. The Queen thinks a Party Guest stole them! The Queen said *Someone has Pilfered Flickerfoot’s shoes*. That was not a nice thing to do. I hope we find out who it is. I do not want anymore shoes to be stolen!

Tomorrow I am going to visit Rudy. We always have fun together.

THE PARTY WAS TODAY!

THE PARTY WAS TODAY! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!

I ate and drank so many things! IT WAS ALL DELICIOUS! This is what I ate and drank: nectar punch, acorn milk, moss soup, Smallified peaches (I just licked mine and gave the rest to Rudy).

I licked the honey off of my petal cake. I saved the petals. I will put them with my snakeskin.

I played so many games! I played got-your-wing and pin-the-spots-on-the-ladybug (the ladybug kept moving!) and loop-de-loop and lick-the-mushroom and who-has-the-feather!

Everyone hit the snail-shell ball with a stick! It did not break. But then Peppertwirl hit it. The wax came off! The Surprises fell out! Everyone cheered! Everyone shared the Surprises. The Queen gave Peppertwirl a flower because she was the one that made it open.

I danced and jumped and flew! I rode dragonflies (they came!) and floated in the punch bowl!

Flutterglow saw me in the punch bowl. She said *You should not be in there Bud but it is a Party so I won’t tell anyone*. Then she giggled and I giggled. Then she said *Move over so I can get a cup of punch, you are in the way*. The nectar punch was delicious.

My clothing did not stick to me after I got out! My bottom was not uncovered!

The Prince got a lot of Gifts! He smiled at my Jingle Bell! He said *Thank You for this Jingle Bell Bud Mushroom!* That made me happy!

Now I can tell you what the Queen got him. It is not a Surprise anymore. It is - A WISH! He can make any Wish he wants! Only a Prince would get a Wish! Do you know how I hid a Wish? I hid it under a leaf. Then no one could see it! The Queen said *That was Very Clever Bud Mushroom. You are a Useful Fairy!*

I will tell you more about the Party tomorrow. I am tired now. But it was so much fun!

Something Special

Today I made something special for the party. Other fairies helped. This is who helped: Pollenfoot, Windybell, Cheerychime. They are the Queen’s Attendants. They feed her food. They rub her feet. They spritz her face. They are very tiny fairies. But they are helpful.

I do not know what we made. No one knows what it is called! Flutterglow saw one at a human party once. She said it is a round ball that you hang from a tree. Then you hit it with a stick. And then sweets and surprises fall out.

Flutterglow told the Queen about it. The Queen said *We must have one at Our Party! Bud Mushroom be a Useful Fairy and make Us a round ball to hang from a tree and hit with a stick. Be sure to put Sweets and Surprises inside. My Attendants will help you*.

I do not know if I am doing it right! But this is what we did: we found an empty snail shell. The snail dried up and does not need the shell now. We put Smallified berries in it. I broke the rest of my choklit into tiny pieces and put that inside too. Pollenfoot found some flower seeds to put inside. Then it was full.

I found some beeswax in my house. We covered the open part of the shell. Now the surprises will not fall out.

We tied spider silk to the outside. Windybell found a stick to hit it with at the Party. Cheerychime wanted to use the Thorn instead of a stick. But I did not think Wildwhisper would let us.

I do not know why the Queen wanted a round ball with Sweets and Surprises inside. I would rather put the snail shell in my house. But she is the Queen and she told me to do it. So I did it.

I hope it is right! It would not be Useful to make the wrong thing!

Cloverflower's Gift

I got up very early. I went to Cloverflower’s house. She shares her house with Flutterglow. They said *It is too early Bud Mushroom. Go home and come back after the sun has come up*.

I did not go home. I stayed near their house. I played with the beetles that crawled on the outside. I raced the slugs (I won!). I listened to birds chirp.

Then Cloverflower opened her door. She said *Come in now Bud Mushroom and you can help us*.

Cloverflower has her gift for the Prince! She found it in a human place. Flutterglow Smallified it and put it in her Bag. Then it Biggified back to its normal size when she took it out! Flutterglow’s Bag is Magic. It’s for her Job.

Cloverflower said *Bud Mushroom do not tell the Prince what the Gift is!* I won’t tell him. It will be a good surprise.

But she did NOT say *Bud Mushroom do not tell Worldwide Spider what the Gift is!* So I can jump about it on my Blog!

I do not know what the Gift is called. But I will tell you what it looks like! It is round. Not round like an apple, but round like a flat round rock. There is a stick on the side. Flutterglow called it Handle.

It does something amazing! I looked through the round part. Everything looked ENORMOUS! Flutterglow’s eye looked bigger than my head! Cloverflower’s finger looked longer than the Thorn! Their size did not change. But everything looked like it changed! We looked at a lot of things! We all giggled a lot! Then we were done looking.

We wrapped the Gift in flower petals and spider silk. That is what Cloverflower wanted me to help with. The Gift is too big for one fairy to wrap alone.

Flutterglow Smallified it. She hid it in her Bag with the Coin.

Then Cloverflower gave me my surprise! It is from a human place. It is called Cat Whisker. I saw a Cat once. It was big and scary like a fox! But Whisker is not scary. There is no Cat stuck to it. It fell off of the Cat. It is like a long hair. I like my surprise. I will put it with my snakeskin.

The fox is gone!

I am safe! I hid under some moss! The fox did not find me.

Cloverflower came to my house. She told me the fox was gone from Twinkle Dingle! Then she told me what happened. She giggled and giggled when she told me. And then I giggled.

This is what happened. Wildwhisper poked the fox with the Thorn! The fox got mad! It tried to bite Wildwhisper! Flutterglow popped in and then popped him away! She was very brave. But Wildwhisper was her Poppy. She had to save him.

Cloverflower was not scared. Flutterglow was not scared. They are the fastest flyers! They can pop away! So they made the fox chase them! Flutterglow had the Thorn! When the fox stopped, she poked it again! The fox chased and chased!

They were very clever! Because guess what was at the end of their chase? Rudy the Skunk! He shook his tail at the fox. The fox did not see Rudy until it was too late. Then the fox was covered with Rudy’s smell. The fox ran away. It left Twinkle Dingle! And then the fairies were all safe.

The Queen was so happy! Today she gave Flutterglow and Cloverflower a Reward. She gave them each a Sweet! Their Sweets are called Peppermint. They are red and white. Sweets are Special. We have to get them from human places. I would rather have nectar or buttermilk. But Cloverflower and Flutterglow like Sweets. They were happy. They shared their Sweets with Wildwhisper. He takes good care of the Thorn.

The Queen also gave Rudy a Reward! He does not eat Sweets. She gave him a pear. It was not Smallified! He was happy. Rudy let me lick his pear. It was delicious.

And guess what? No one had to work today! It was a Celebration! We played games all day. It was fun. I played hide-and-seek and leap-tag and find-the-bubble and got-your-wing and pick-a-hand!

My wings are tired. My eyes are sleepy. But the fox is gone!

There is a fox in Twinkle Dingle!

Flutterglow popped into my house! I was still in bed! She shook me until I was awake.

She said *Bud Mushroom do not go outside. There is a fox in Twinkle Dingle! Small fairies must stay inside! I will check on you later and I will leave you some food*.

She left me nectar. I like nectar! But I am too scared to eat! There should not be a fox here. They are big! They have scary teeth! I do not want to be a snack!

The small fairies are inside their homes. I am glad I am a small fairy! I am not going outside!

Flutterglow said *The Queen and the Prince are in their house, so they are safe. Wildwhisper has the Thorn and he will make the fox leave! The big fairies are helping him! I need to tell the Gnomes about the fox. Do not go outside Bud Mushroom!*

Then she popped away!

I will not go outside.

I hope the fox leaves soon.

I see something poking into my house! It is a nose!

I have to hide!

The Thorn

I did something very Useful today! I will tell you what it is.

Wildwhisper was Flutterglow’s Poppy. He is bigger than I am. He has a Very Important Job. I will tell you about his Job.

Sometimes humans come to Twinkle Dingle. They ask the Queen for things. I do not know why they don’t ask a human Queen. But they don’t.

The Queen makes humans do Useful Tasks. Then they get what they want. But they can’t see fairies do magic. It is a Rule. I don’t know why.

Humans have to close their eyes so they don’t see the magic. Sometimes they do not want to close their eyes. So they have a choice! They can have their eyes poked with a Thorn instead! No human ever chooses the Thorn. I do not know why.

Wildwhisper guards the Thorn. He polishes it and keeps it safe. If a human chooses it, it is ready.

Today the Queen said *Wildwhisper you must guard the clearing from pixies. Do not bring the Thorn. You will take the Thorn to Bud Mushroom. Bud Mushroom will be Useful and Guard it!*

Wildwhisper brought the Thorn to my tree-trunk house. I was afraid he would see my pink rock. I hid it under a leaf. He did not see it.

I watched the Thorn all day. It did not wiggle or sing or fly. It did not have pictures to jump on. It was boring. I almost fell asleep! It was a very long day. But the Thorn was safe. And I was Useful.

Wildwhisper took the Thorn when the day ended. He brought me a surprise! It is a hummingbird nest. There is no hummingbird in it. The birds all flew away. They do not need the nest.

It is soft inside. It will make a nice bed. I will sleep in it tonight.

My Second Surprise

The bumblebees liked their flowers. They did not sting me.

Pebblemist was not ready for me to help today. She said *come back later Bud Mushroom*. I will go back later.

Cloverflower gave me my surprise! Flutterglow found it in a human place. Cloverflower called it choklit. It looks like a rock! It fits in my hands. Cloverflower said *taste it Bud* and I licked it. Choklit is good! I will share it with the ants in my log.

When Cloverflower was here she said *Bud you need clothing for the party. Go to Peppertwirl so she can make clothing for you*.

I do not like clothing. I like to wear nothing. But I will wear clothing for the party.

A Gift

Flutterglow is a fairy. She is my friend. She has a pretty green dress. I like it when she giggles.

She told me something today. She said I need to bring a gift to Prince Silvertoes. I do not know what to give a Prince! He already has these things: a Mummy (she is the Queen), a house (he lives in it), a Crown (he wears it), and a Job (he is the Prince). He even has shoes! I do not know what else he needs!

Flutterglow told me what she will give him. Flutterglow has an Important Job. She is the Courier. Sometimes she goes places other fairies can’t go. She went to a human place. She found something she called Coin. I did not know what Coin was. But Flutterglow showed me.

Coin is flat and shiny. Coin has a face on it! Coin is big! I could curl up and sleep on it! Flutterglow did not Smallify it.

I helped Flutterglow wrap it in a pretty leaf. We tied it with spider silk. It will be a nice gift.

I will have to find a special gift. He is a Prince.
